Charterhouse School Edinburg is seeking a dedicated and passionate 10-month Special Education Teacher with experience delivering instructions in a virtual setting for the 2020-2021 academic year.

POSITION SUMMARY
This licensed or licensed-eligible teacher will provide quality learning to students in an adapted curriculum program. Responsible for teaching assigned subject(s), administration of student records, and for classroom and behavior management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Professional Knowledge - Demonstrate an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, and the developmental needs of students by providing relevant learning experiences.

Instructional Planning - Meet the needs of all students by using the Virginia Standards of Learning, the school’s curriculum, IEPs, effective strategies, resources, and data.

Instructional Delivery - Effectively engage students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies in order to meet individual learning needs.

Assessment of and for Student Learning - Systematically gather, analyze, and use all relevant data to measure student academic progress, guide instructional content and delivery methods, and provide timely feedback to students, families, and LEAs throughout the school year.

Learning Environment - Use resources, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, positive, safe, student-centered environment that is conducive to learning.

Professionalism - Maintain a commitment to professional ethics, communicate effectively, and take responsibility for and participate in professional growth that results in enhanced student learning.

Student Academic Progress - Ensure students’ progress is acceptable, measurable, and appropriate for student’s academic level.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Virginia Teaching License or Provisional License in Special Education K-12

Experience teaching in a virtual setting

General Curriculum Program: Special Education – adapted curriculum K-12 endorsement and minimum of two years of experience teaching students with disabilities.

ASD Program: Special Education – adapted curriculum K-12 endorsement and minimum of two years of teaching experience with students on the autism spectrum.

Elementary Program: Special Education – adapted curriculum K-12 endorsement and minimum of two years of experience teaching elementary students with disabilities.

Functional Curriculum Program: Special Education – adapted curriculum K-12 endorsement and minimum of two years of teaching experience with students with intellectual disabilities.
