About the Role
Are you passionate about community impact, volunteer engagement, and helping families maintain safe and healthy homes? We are seeking a dynamic, organized, and relationship-driven Volunteer & Program Coordinator to lead volunteer engagement efforts while coordinating our home repair assistance program and supporting ReStore operations. This position serves as the primary point of contact for homeowners, volunteers, and community partners, ensuring projects are successfully managed from initial inquiry through completion. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator, strong project coordinator, and community builder who thrives in a mission-focused environment.
What You'll Do
Program Coordination & Project Management
• Serve as the primary contact for home repair program inquiries, referrals, and applicants.
• Guide homeowners through application, intake, and documentation processes.
• Coordinate home visits, inspections, project schedules, and timelines.
• Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, partner agencies, and volunteers to ensure successful project completion.
• Monitor project progress and maintain high standards for quality, safety, and timeliness.
• Maintain accurate client, project, and volunteer records and databases.
• Assist with reporting, grant compliance, budget tracking, and data collection.
Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement
• Develop and implement strategies to recruit, engage, and retain volunteers across the home repair program, ReStore, and special events.
• Build strong relationships with individual volunteers, corporate groups, schools, faith-based organizations, and community partners.
• Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments based on organizational needs and volunteer interests.
• Plan and lead volunteer workdays, orientations, training sessions, and appreciation activities.
• Track volunteer participation, hours, and impact metrics.
• Foster a positive, mission-driven volunteer experience that encourages long-term engagement.
Community Outreach & Partnerships
• Represent the organization at community meetings, events, workshops, and networking opportunities.
• Build partnerships with local governments, nonprofits, businesses, schools, and civic organizations.
• Increase awareness of home repair services, volunteer opportunities, and ReStore operations.
• Develop outreach initiatives that strengthen community engagement and generate referrals.
Communications & Storytelling
• Support social media, marketing, and communication efforts.
• Share volunteer stories, homeowner success stories, and program outcomes.
• Assist with website updates, promotional materials, and volunteer recruitment campaigns.
Administrative Support
• Prepare program and volunteer engagement reports.
• Support fundraising events, campaigns, and organizational initiatives.
• Maintain organized systems for program, client, and volunteer data.
• Participate in staff meetings and collaborative planning efforts.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, social services, community development, communications, construction management, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
• 3–5 years of experience in program coordination, volunteer management, customer service, community outreach, housing services, construction-related programs, or nonprofit operations.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, databases, and social media platforms.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with teams and partners.
• Commitment to providing outstanding service to clients, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience coordinating volunteers or managing volunteer programs.
• Knowledge of home repair, construction, housing programs, or affordable housing initiatives.
• Experience working with contractors and community-based projects.
• Bilingual communication skills.
• Familiarity with local community resources and service networks.
Requirements
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Must not be listed on the National Sex Offender Registry.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Occasional outdoor work and attendance at community events.
• Regular computer and office-based work.
• Some bending, lifting, and movement during volunteer activities and events.
